Fifty five GPs and a pelvic physio got together to share teaching and learning about perimenopause and menopause. Rachel Andrew, APA Continence and Pelvic Health Physiotherapist, presented a session about what a pelvic physio treats, symptoms to look out for, and what they can do to rehabilitate or fix pelvic health issues during menopause. 'Working with a patient's GP is part of our work, we also want the GP to know what we can do for their patients.' She says. 'We can work together to rehabilitate or fix pelvic muscle tension and flare ups during this stage of a women's life.' Says Rachel, who sees women who present with symptoms such as pain with sex, vulval pain, bowel and bladder issues, hip and back pain, even diseases like persistent pelvic pain and endometriosis can flare for the first time during perimenopause.
